Why am I doing it? When it is obviously a CRAZY thing to do?
(Nanowrimo stands for National Novel Writing Month. Participants write an entire novel of at least 50,000 words during the month of November. For this they get — more crazy. Plus satisfaction.)
And, a completed first draft.
I’m doing it because if I don’t, at the end of November, I’ll still be fiddling and twiddling with my firstborn (The Sower). I can’t seem to quit revising it. I’ll be almost in the same place I am right now.
I haven’t written anything truly fresh in AGES. So. Nanowrimo.
I’ve done this once before, and although the book was truly dreadful, I was amazed at what the concentrated effort actually netted me. The pace unlocked me. I hated it. I loved it.
So, I’m doing it. I hope the magic happens again.
Well done! You are ahead of the daily goal and you'll just keep going!
As for The Sower, I <3 it. Very Much. I want it pubished. So I can have it sitting pretty on my shelf. Why oh why isn't it published yet?????? *SIGH* OK, I'm done lamenting. Back to the partying of having you join me in NaNo and for doing well today!
Thanks! How did you do on your first day?
You are gonna hate me. I worked hard. It helped that I wasn't posting on FB/Twitter because of Communication Shutdown. 7,155. I hit several really great rolls this afternoon. The words came. The words suck because the story sucks, but that's OK.
holy cow, that is AMAZING! And, I started to hate you for it but then I remembered. I can be happy for others' success. I can. I can.p.s. did you get notification of my reply in your email box? (Yes I am STILL fiddling with my comment system.) And if you did, had you clicked that “subscribe to all replies” thing?
Well, I did hit some rolls. And mostly I was giving out some sort of crummy history lesson. Dialogue. So it went fast. I'm sure it's pure junk. But it's really a lark thought and nothing I care all that seriously about. Just something to be doofy. And to work through some issues in my life.
I did sub to comments and I got this reply and your last one in my inbox. Since I couldn't comment on twitter, I was commenting on a bunch of blogs today. And grr, I couldn't sub to their comments. I don't know where they all are, so I can't go back and check. Talk about annoying. *SIGH* And I got a comment on Caramon's blog and do you know blogspot didn't tell me? What is THAT about? I'm thinking there HAS to be a better system.
For this they get — more crazy. Plus satisfaction.
Love it.
You have such a way of conveying concepts–you must be a writer.

Aww, thanks, Chris. Sorry about the mess up with subscribing to comments. Let me know if this ends up in your email box, ok? Thanks!
