Yes! Another baby step in the birth of my firstborn . . . I’ve been assigned an editor. She has emailed me and seems like a real human and everything. Her name is Samantha Van Walraven.
I sent her my most recent revision and then I suppose she’ll read it and tell me about the hundred thousand things I need to fix. I can’t wait! I’m ready to slash and burn.
Also, I have an appointment to call the publishing house’s CFO on Tuesday to go over my contract. I have a couple of questions I’d like to clarify and then I’m signing that dotted line. I’ve gotten a lot of great advice from writer friends about it and actually feel pretty comfortable with it now.
Yay, baby steps! I'm so excited… for both of us! Samantha is great. Nervous about this first feedback, though! And ANXIOUS. All the best!
So you haven't received anything back from her yet? Somehow I thought you were a couple of months farther along the process than me.
Testing. Testing.
She was assigned to me at the beginning of July, but I just signed my contract last weekend, so legally, she can't work on anything of mine until the contract is back, signed, and she is given the okay. LOTS of waiting, this author game. She has, however, been a great support, and Covenant just accepted my second book. YAY!
I've subscribed to replies. Hope it works!
Yay! Is it a sequel? I've been wondering about that…whether they would want to know if my first book would do well before talking about a sequel.
It's for really for real happening, isn't it? Admit it, you did a painfully embarrassing happy dance, didn't you?
oh goodness, the dancing just keeps going. Today I signed and mailed the contract so another dance had to happen.
It is a sequel! I wrote it and the third before I even heard back from Covenant (9 mos), so I just asked about submitting it and they said yes, please. However, they are holding off on the third one to see how sales do. Just be open and ask about it.
Oh my gosh, how exciting! Congratulations
Samantha is wonderful. Congratulations!!!
